Etienne Brisson filed an application on behalf of The Human Line Project to become a registered 501c3 charity with the US government. One of the requirements included:

Provide a total of three years of financial information (including the current year and two future years of reasonable and good faith projections of your future finances) in the following Statement of Revenues and Expenses.

For 2027, Brisson predicts $700,000 USD ($980,000 CAD) in revenue, with the majority coming from grants and donations.

Grants and Fundraising

Most large non-profits have full time staff focused on donor development and fundraising. Likewise, any reputable non-profit that runs on grant funding usually employs or contracts with professional grant writers. It does not appear HLP has done either.

If Brisson plans to be given over half a million US dollars, has he identified or applied for any grants yet? If so, which ones?

Who Pays Program Fees?

Brisson predicts program fees will bring in revenue of $150,000 USD next year.

Programs will be offered at no cost to individuals receiving support services. Fees may be charged to organizations for access to research data and collaboration opportunities.

Yet, in his presentation this week, Brisson denied any direct involvement with their academic and institutional partners, claiming only to facilitate the connection between participants and institutions without payment.

So, how exactly does HLP plan to fund itself? Are there program fees or not?

And at what point will Brisson and his co-founder Ben Dorey start getting paid? Or are we to believe they are permanent volunteers doing this for the love of the cause?
