An early member of The Human Line Project, reddit user/HappyNomads, began researching and posting about the topic of AI delusions in spring of 2025 and often recommended people reach out to the Human Line Project.

“She ruined her family over this,” said the developer.

Disturbed by the event — and the bizarre, AI-generated hallucinations that seemed to be powering it — he started to collect search results for certain words that seemed to be associated with her delusions. The effort returned hundreds of pages, posts, and manifestos, shared to the web by a sprawling array of internet users who appeared to be suffering similar crises.

“I was like, ‘Okay. This is gonna be a big problem,” the developer recounted.

As early as May 2025, he was already posting about “working with people who are suing OpenAI.” and “There is a class action lawsuit“ He also recruited across reddit with comments like, “I’ve got documentary makers looking to talk to people like you, shoot me a dm if you’re open to it.“

He even responded to Allan Brooks commenting on his post with, “I would really love to put you in touch with some people who are making videos about this if you are willing to share.”

Comment History Reveals Character

His extensive decade long reddit history does not give any clues to indicate his future interest in preventing emotional harm or advancing ethical practices to protect the vulnerable.

In this post from 2015, he posted entrepreneurial advice for creating modern day brothels using the AirBnBPlatform,

During Donald Trump’s first administration, HappyNomads fantasized about standing his ground to shoot tresspassers and a society that kills off special needs children. He also helpfully shared advice on how to get away with various criminal activities like shoplifting, above mentioned pimping in Vegas, or his past selling drugs

Does this sound like a person that should be trusted around psychologically vulnerable people? Is this who we want influencing the policy conversation at the national level?

What Does it Take to Be an Expert?

HappyNomads claimed to be an expert source for NYT’s Kashmir Hill bombshell AI psychosis article and also claimed affiliation with teams at Stanford, Yale, AI safety researchers from Notre Dame

If you’re really an academic psychologist get involved, I’m in touch with teams at Stanford and Yale who are researching this problem right now. If you’re actually an academic psychologist you would understand research projects just don’t pop up over night with funding. Thankfully people like myself realized this was a problem and started connecting people months ago so that we have MILA and ivy league schools backing this research.

How does that square with his comment from earlier in the phenomenon?

I’m not the most educated person to talk to this about for sure. I’m a prompt engineer, working on ai agents and even prompt based video game not ai safety by any means!

All I have are theories, some ways to simulate the phenomenon, and a lot of indexed websites, blogs, and glyph/scroll images for future training models to filter out.

How did an obscure prompt engineer and self appointed researcher even get connected with lawyers, documentary producers and The Human Line Project in the first place?
